Cosmetic dentistry
Innovations in dental technology have made visiting the dentist an entirely new experience for many Americans.

The main goal of traditional dentistry is to keep your teeth healthy and free of disease and decay. Cosmetic dentistry takes oral hygiene to a new level by enhancing the overall look of your teeth. Getting veneers or a cavity filled can be an opportunity to improve your look.

Your smile so often makes the first impression, so more people are seeking cosmetic dentistry corrective procedures and aesthetic enhancement. Whether you want to fix uneven teeth or get a complete smile makeover, we help you achieve the smile you've always wanted.

Bridges, veneers & crowns

Teeth replacement can have a serious effect on your smile and dental health. Missing teeth can cause:
  •  Misalignment of your teeth
  • Increased risk of periodontal disease and tooth decay
  • Loss of adjacent teeth
  • Speech disorders
  • Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)
Dental bridges replace a missing tooth and are supported by the teeth on either side. They improve your ability to chew and speak, enhance your smile, reduce the risk of losing adjacent teeth and can help keep your jaw and face from changing shape.

It might also be necessary to get a crown to:
  •  Restore original size and shape
  • Supply physical support
  • Get a complete "makeover"
Crowns or 'caps' completely cover every visible part of the tooth. A part of your tooth remains but is "rebuilt" to resemble the tooth at its exterior best. It is recommended only in conjunction with prior repair of the tooth - not simply for cosmetic purposes. Meanwhile, veneers can greatly improve the appearance of your teeth and protect them from damage.

Dentures

Sometimes, due disease, malnutrition or genetic disorders, it is necessary to extract all of a patient's lower or upper teeth. While this can be distressing, teeth replacement by using dentures provides a second chance at a beautiful smile.

Complete dentures help with chewing, support facial structure and improve speech. With immediate dentures, you can have a full set of teeth while you are waiting for your gums to heal and your bone to realign after teeth removal. This can take up to six months, so immediate dentures are a great alternative during that time.

Complete dentures are not always necessary. Partial dentures replace a string of missing teeth and are secured to your remaining teeth with clasps.

No matter which kind of dentures you choose, you can be assured our team in Archdale will give you natural-looking dentures that match your facial structure and desired tooth color.

  Dental fillings

Nowadays it's possible to get your cavities, or any other smaller hollow areas in your teeth, filled with composite fillings. Composite fillings are made from resins that are matched to your tooth's color - so they become invisible when applied.

They provide an excellent seal on affected areas, so tooth decay can be prevented. Factors in our decision to use composite fillings include:
  • Size of the area to be filled
  • Location of the affected area in the mouth
  • Allergies the patient might have
  • Patient preferences for materials used
  • Necessity to cosmetically have a tooth-colored filling
If you are unsure about the type of filling you want, schedule an appointment at our Archdale practice for a free consultation.
